Engaging with the Wellness Questionnaire:
Daily Reminder Setup:
ATIUM sends a daily reminder to fill out your wellness questionnaire at a time you choose for convenience.
- To set this time, navigate to Notification Settings in the app and specify when you'd like to receive this reminder.
Filling Out the Questionnaire:
- When the reminder appears, tap it to open the wellness questionnaire directly. If you didn't catch the reminder or prefer to fill it out later, it's not a problem.
- Access the questionnaire anytime by heading to the Sports Science Library, selecting Monitoring, and then Wellness Forms. Here, pick the current date to start.
Completing and Editing the Questionnaire:
Respond to each question based on your current state. These insights are crucial for tailoring your training program.
After filling out the questionnaire, tap "Ok" to upload your data. If you think you've made a mistake or want to change your answers, you can hit "Reset" to do so.
Athletes can submit wellness data for the past 7 days, ensuring accuracy and reflections on well-being changes that might not have been immediately apparent. This flexibility is crucial for accurate wellness tracking.
How to answer the Wellness Questionnaire:
- Sleep Duration: Enter the total number of hours you slept last night. This helps in understanding if you're getting enough rest for optimal recovery and performance.
Sleep Quality: Choose how well you slept last night. Your options range from "Very very bad" to "Very very good". Good sleep quality indicates restful sleep, while poor quality might suggest disturbances or restlessness.
Mood: Select how stressed you feel today. The options again range from "Very very bad" to "Very very good". A more positive mood can enhance performance, while high stress may need attention for better mental wellness.
- Fatigue: Rate how tired you feel today, from "Very very bad" to "Very very good". Lower fatigue levels are ideal for training and competition, indicating readiness.
- Soreness: Choose the level of muscle soreness you experience today, with options from "Very very bad" to "Very very good". Less soreness typically means better recovery from previous workouts.
- Hunger: Adjust the scale from 1 (not very hungry) to 10 (very hungry). This helps understand your nutritional status and if you're fueling enough for your activities.
Motivation: Adjust the scale from 1 (not at all motivated) to 10 (highly motivated). High motivation is crucial for effective training and achieving your sports goals.
Example of Interpretation: Applying Wellness Data to Optimize Training
Step 1: Sleep Analysis
Recorded 8 hours of sleep with low quality. This flags a need for adjusting recovery strategies to compensate for inadequate rest.
Step 2: Training Intensity Adjustment
Due to the suboptimal sleep quality, it's wise to reduce the day's training intensity. This helps prevent overtraining and fatigue.
Step 3: Addressing Muscle Soreness
High levels of soreness are identified. Incorporate additional recovery techniques, like massage or cold therapy, to aid muscle recovery.
Step 4: Nutritional Needs Review
An increase in hunger levels signals the necessity for a nutritional intake reassessment. Ensure the diet is supporting recovery and energy needs.
Step 5: Leveraging High Motivation
Despite physical challenges, a strong motivation level is observed. Channel this motivation into focusing on recovery and technique improvement.
Step 6: Adaptation and Reflection
Reflect on the effectiveness of today's adjustments based on wellness data. Use these insights to inform and optimize future training and wellness strategies.
Conclusion:
ATIUMs wellness questionnaire is more than a daily check-in; it's a strategic tool for maximizing performance through tailored training and recovery processes. By consistently engaging with and accurately interpreting the questionnaire, athletes and coaches can foster an environment of continuous improvement and heightened awareness of wellness indicators.
